Integrated geophysics using optical fibers for mapping of soil depth and rock properties in water passages
The research study is a feasibility test to evaluate Fibre Optic Sensing as a potential
solution for shallow water seismic surveys. The Distributed Acoustic Sensing technology
has high potential as shown for other purposes. The quality of Fiber Optic Sensing data
as compared to other types of traditional seismic acquisitions is investigated, as well as
the operational benefits and constraints for the use of this technology during seismic
surveys.
The project has been financed by BeFo, with cofounding and in-kind from LTH, the
University of Cagliari (Italy), RISE and Impakt gepfysik AB, .
The reference group was composed of Fredrik Kullander, Ari Tryggvason, Mats
Svensson, Jennifer Juslenius, Daniel Sofer, Lena Persson, Per Tengborg, and Patrik
Vidstrand.
